In homage to the 100 anniversary of the birth of the Galician painter Laxeixo (1908-2008) this creation is the result of the experimental work developed and presented in the Fine Arts Museum of A Coruña.
The audience is invited to accompany the actors, dancers and musicians in their interaction with various spaces of the museum where the different scenes created bring to life the worlds painted by Laxeiro.
Granito, far from aiming to reproduce the paintings, looks to leave a sensorial impression which brings the audience closer to the painters personal universe. Using the colors and textures of the painter Granito brings out his main themes - Carnaval, local processions and religious festivities, the puppet theater, rural life, madness, the beyond, birth and death - and presents scenes in motion, in which Galician popular culture and contemporary life enter in dialogue.
Granito shows the stylistic variety of Laxeiro and aims to apply to the stage his attitude about painting: “ Galician painting is universal painting. And if it is not like this, than it is not Galician painting.”
