Dreaming Juliet

“Best Costume Design” María Casares Theatre Awards 2021

DREAMING JULIET inspired by William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”.

The show addresses the most essential question of human existence, Love.

With a visual language rooted in movement theatre, live music and dance, DREAMING JULIET creates a universal poetics of passion.

In the original piece, the protagonists live an idealized but forbidden love, condemned by their families. Their intense relationship is short-lived and has a tragic ending.

Now imagine that Romeo and Juliet had not died and that the main obstacle to their relationship was not the opposition of their families but the adversities of the routines of the contemporary world.

What would Juliet’s dreams be? How would Romeo grow old? What place in their daily lives would remain for true love?
